Hey, Guys! I was asked at Friday's Lifeline meeting to explain prayer. I think it is a great way to use this area to start off with a lesson/workshop in prayer. Please read through this and do anything I guide you through in a private place with enough spare time if at all possible.
A definition of prayer for our purposes is communication with the Trinity or one of the three, God the Father, Jesus the Son, or the Holy spirit.
Because the Ones we pray to are all-knowing Spirits, it is easier to communicate with them because unlike humans, they know exactly what you mean, what you're going through, and are never surprised by anything. Also, they will love you no matter what, so be honest.
However, prayer is also a discipline and a practice. It is a way of life.
There are many forms and kinds of prayer.
Form of prayer: different ways/methods of praying. Can, but does not always, give guidelines for prayer from posture to wording to breathing. Examples: prayer beads, reciting written prayers, meditations, talking, feeling, etc.
Kind of prayer: different reasons to pray. Examples: petition/intercession/pleading, praising God, blessing someone, just to talk, to focus, as practice for living.
I will be explaining each of those examples in no particular order in the next few posts.
A life of prayer takes practice, but it is worth it to constantly be in contact with you Father and Savior and Guide, the ones who empower you to live, especially through your struggles. The intimacy that you can have with the All-powerful, Holy, Creator of the universe who despite your sins cares for you is worth any sacrifice!
Love,
Veta
