Some of you may not know this, but on most Friday nights, I lead a Bible study group called College Lifeline (named after the youth group at the church several of us go to: Lifeline at Presbyterian Church in the Highlands- pchighlands.com/) at Cody's (Araxis') apartment. Usually, we use a book called Wired for a Life of Worship by Louie Giglio, but lately the Holy Spirit has been taking me away from that path. I promise, we will get back to it, but God's will is above mine, always. So, this is a place for the random yet Spirit-given lessons we have been having lately. I will type them here and in another thread, some other time, will summarize briefly the chapters in Wired For Worship. God bless, Veta

1 Corinthians 1:20-25 bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=1+Corinthians+1%3A20-25&version1=31 says that we preach Christ crucified. That the cross, where Jesus took on our sins and died painfully, is a stumbling block. The cross was a method of execution. We think of the cross and we think of the charms people wear on necklaces and such. We think of Jesus, of our faith, of our religion. We do not shudder or cringe or get angry. The cross is comparable to the electric chair, the noose, the gilloutine, guns, swords, and other weapons we use to execute or murder. Kill. It is not pretty. Do you want to wear an electric chair around your neck? Then why wear a cross? Jesus said to take up your cros and folow him. The cross he spoke of was huge, wooden, splintery, heavy. The way he took lead to death. A painful, slow, humiliating death. And remember: he was no powerless weak man. He had the power to get off at any time he felt like it, but didn't. Ask yourself why. Matthew 7:13-14 bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=Matthew+7%3A13-14&version1=31. Culture says to be open minded, broaden your horizons, but Jesus said to be narrow in your ways. Jesus' goal in life was not to die for our salvation, or to preach, or to heal and perform other miracles, though he did do those things by the will of God. He had the sole ultimate goal of glorifying his Father, even in being obedient to death on a cross. His obedience to God is what proves him to be the Son of God. What proves you as a son or daughter of God? Matthew 7 bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=Matthew+7&version1=65. Bear fruit. Are you honoring God by obeying Him and producing Godly fruit? What do you think fruit is? How do you produce it?
